In this assignment you will build on the work for Assignment 3A: Presentation by completing a written report that focuses on the application of positive psychology to a real life social issue which has a significant effect on broader society. The broad aim is to demonstrate how positive psychology might be used to help address some of the problems related to a chosen social issue/s. In doing so, you will be expected to apply key positive psychology principles and draw upon relevant research and theory to evaluate how effective and applicable positive psychology may be as an intervention.
TOPIC: Anxiety disorders in youth and adolescents
INTERVENTION: Art therapy/creativity + Mindfulness
Structure
The report that you produce should be divided into four different sections that should:
Introduce the aims of the report and clearly establish the parameters (what will be discussed).
Provide a detailed overview of the chosen social issue.
Provide a detailed overview of the chosen positive psychology principle(s).
Provide a detailed descriiption of a proposed positive psychology based intervention and/or program designed to help reduce the negative impact of the chosen social issue.
More details on what you should include in each of the sections are provided below.
Section 1: Introduction
In this section, you should provide an introduction to the report that outlines the broad aim(s) of the report, as well as the parameters (what the report will contain). It should be made very clear to the audience as to the exact purpose of the report and the aim(s) and scope should be articulated clearly and accurately. The overall aim for Section 1 is to provide an introduction to the report and make it clear to the audience what will be contained within the report. In this case, the audience will be health professionals. The suggested word count for this section is between 500–750 words.
Section 2: Overview of chosen social issue
In Section 2 you should introduce the chosen social issue that will form the focus of the report. You should provide a clear descriiption of what the social issue is and the effect that it has individually and more broadly on society. In doing so, consider both the historical and current impact (i.e. internet addiction would not have been an issue historically. You should include any relevant statistics and/or information pertaining to epidemiology, including causes and contributing factors (e.g. who is at risk?). Remember when describing trends and stating figures for statistics to use formal sources and not websites such as Wikipedia. You should additionally include an evaluation of current approaches to treatment and intervention (e.g. medical treatments, psychological treatments, broader interventions and programs). You should not include any intervention and/or treatment that is based on your proposed intervention. This will be covered in Section 3. Instead, the focus here should be on existing efforts to address the chosen social issue. The aim of Section 2 is to provide a thorough overview of the chosen social issue and to help illustrate to the audience that it is a significant problem that needs further attention. The suggested word count for this section is approximately between 1000–1200 words.
Section 3: Introduction and integration of positive psychology
In this section you should broadly and briefly introduce the discipline of positive psychology with a specific focus on what positive psychology is and how it may be applied to improve the wellbeing of people in general (e.g. how it might be used in counselling). Having provided a general introduction, you should then describe the aspect(s) of positive psychology that will form the basis of your intervention (e.g. meditation and mindfulness, religion and spirituality, flow, signature strengths, broadening of emotions). You should provide a clear and accurate descriiption, including integration of relevant theory as applicable. You should also provide a brief literature review that helps outline the efficacy of the chosen positive psychology aspect for the purposes of treatment and/or interventions. Where possible, the literature should focus on your chosen social trend, but in the absence of relevant literature, you can focus more broadly. You should make sure you critically evaluate the literature. The overall aim of Section 3 is to introduce positive psychology as an approach to helping people and to review the current literature on a specific aspect of positive psychology. The suggested word count for this section is 1500 words.
Section 4: Intervention proposal
In the final section of the report you should provide a detailed descriiption of your proposed intervention. You should provide sufficient detail on the intervention focusing on the what, who, how, where, when, and why.
What the intervention is:
Make sure you provide a clear, thorough descriiption of the intervention and include a rationale.
Who it is aimed at:
Is the intervention aimed at individuals experiencing the targeted social issue (e.g. drug users, obese individuals) or does it also capture a broader audience (e.g. educators, family members)? Make sure it is clear as to who would be the ideal candidate for the intervention.
How the intervention would work:
Describe clearly the processes and mechanisms involved for your chosen intervention (e.g. if you choose meditation as a technique, how would it work? Would surveys, questionnaires and/or clinical interviews be involved?). Also include how you would know it worked (i.e. what criteria would you use to measure success for the intervention?).
When it would be implemented:
This should essentially focus on timing; would the intervention run daily? Weekly? Monthly? Once off? Would it be available at all times or would access be restricted?
Where it would be implemented:
Would the intervention be in person? Online? Would it be run in a community setting? A school setting?
Why you have chosen this approach:
This is an important aspect of this Section, as you must provide a justification for the approach you have taken. In doing so, you evaluate other alternatives you considered and the limitations to these.
The overall aim of Section 4 is to provide a detailed overview of your proposed intervention. The suggested word count for this section is between 1500–2000 words.
The above is a guide to what you should include in each section. Throughout the course of the unit, there will be other opportunities to discuss what you may include in the report including the Assignment 3B Q&A.
Other sections
You should also include within your report:
An abstract (no more than 250 words).
A table of contents.
A conclusion.
A reference list.
Please note: The word count does not include these sections.
You are to draw from current peer-reviewed research and publications and your work should conform to APA requirements.

Purpose Statement
This paper will examine the timeliness of mental health services for released inmates and its effects on reincarceration. The focus will be on inmates who were released from prison with a prior mental health diagnosis, their timely treatment in the community for their mental health issues or lack thereof, and the reincarceration rates of those individuals.
Research Question
Does the timeliness of mental health services for released inmates affect the rates of reincarceration?
Hypotheses
H0 – The timeliness of mental health services for released inmates does not have an effect on reincarceration rates.
H1 – The timeliness of mental health services for released inmates has a significant effect on reincarceration rates.
Summary of Research
The US has the highest incarceration rate in the world. Much of the research shows that there are many more individuals incarcerated that have a diagnosed mental illness than there are from the general population that is incarcerated (Domino et al., 2019). When released from prison, people with serious mental illness face many challenges entering back into the community than those from the general population (Domino et al., 2019). Many of these individuals do not receive the mental health care or treatment that they need in a timely manner, if at all.
Another study by Baillargeon et al., (2009), examined whether inmates with one of four types of major psychiatric disorders had an increased risk of having multiple episodes of incarceration in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice prison system. They used Texas because it is the largest state correctional system in the United States.
Skeem et al., (2011), evaluated the effectiveness of current interventions and of psychiatric, criminological, and social-psychological models of the link between mental illness and criminal justice involvement.
Gaps in Research & Who Can Benefit From This Research
There are several gaps in this research. One is in the discharge planning from the person that is responsible to do so. Are the workers that are responsible for setting up community services setting them up with it? Are the inmates not following through once they are released into the community? Are they taking medications that they were prescribed to take? Are they continuing to hang out with the wrong crowd that may have got them in the situation to begin with? Do they have health insurance to cover treatment and medications?
I believe that inmates, prison staff, the community, and mental health professionals can all benefit from understanding what the main problem is for reincarceration for those released from prison with a mental health diagnosis.

Research Topic:
How childhood trauma directly affects mental health in adulthood.
Testable Research Question:
Does trauma in adolescence lead to an increase in mental health issues (anxiety, depression, bipolar, etc)?
Introduction:
According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, “More than two-thirds of children reported at least one traumatic event by age 16.” (SAMHSA, 2022). These events include neglect, abuse (psychological, physical, and sexual), sudden loss of a loved one, and more. What are the signs that a child is dealing with trauma and is there a way to prevent this from affecting them later on in adulthood? What kind of treatments worked to improve childhood trauma (EMDR, CBT, brain spotting)? “Those with a history of trauma were 1.5 times more likely to have psychiatric symptoms and experience family instability than those without. Those who experienced childhood trauma were also 1.2 times more likely to develop substance abuse issues or depression.” (Cheryl K, 2021). This research could benefit adults who are currently dealing with mental health issues. Possibly digging into what they experienced during childhood could help them recognize their struggles and strengthen their healing path. Trauma can be passed down through DNA, so it may not always be their own childhood that caused their current state of mental health.

Now you are actually talking about what you are proposing. Again, be sure that this
follows naturally from the Introduction in which you should have set up and highlighted some
critical issue that needs to be resolved. What you should do now is to tell the reader how you
would resolve this issue. The Method section should describe the proposed method for the
experiment, including who the participants will be (ages and where they will be recruited from),
what equipment will be used, and the procedure that will be followed. You should specify the
variables (independent and dependent) that will be used in the experiment. You do not have to
format this section with separate subject, apparatus and procedure sections, but having that in
mind can help to guide your thinking and writing. A clearly structured Method section is very
important. (2 pages).

write a Summary of the peer-reviewed article you found and your argument of either pro or con. Basically, briefly summarize the research and any supported arguments you would make as either a “pro” or a “con” side of the issue & support this with evidence. Make sure you include how does this research relate to your perspective? You can also include things like:
What cause/effect relationships were stated or implied by the author?
Are there any reasons to believe the writers are biased?
Did you find evidence of other logical errors on the part of the author?
What fallacies of question-framing are made by the authors?

When psychological assessments are used in the workplace, their primary aim is to predict and measure workplace-related outcomes. Assessments should be valid and fair to every job candidate and employee required to take a test. For talent development, psychological assessments are often utilized to identify employees’ strengths and weaknesses. In this discussion you will take the role of an industrial-organizational psychologist consulting with human resources managers who oversee hiring for their organizations. The managers are interested in determining how psychological tests can be utilized as part of the selection process and in talent development. To successfully complete this discussion, your post must be at least 600 words and include the following:
Recommend at least one psychometrically sound integrity test for use in for employee selection. Include a brief descriiption of the test you recommend and what it measures.
Recommend at least one test that would be a more psychometrically sound option for personality assessment in the workplace than the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). Include a brief descriiption of the test you recommend and what it measures.
Defend your test choices by briefly summarizing specific factors related to cultural diversity that should be taken into consideration.
Debate the pros and cons of using psychological tests in the selection of police officers.
Evaluate key ethical issues to consider when utilizing psychological tests in the workplace.
Support ideas you share in your post by referencing the required resources for this week and at least one additional peer-reviewed journal article published within the last fifteen years.
Note: It is common for there to be a delay between the time a test publisher updates a test and the time textbook and other authors can update their information about the new version of the test. Be sure to do online research to make sure you are recommending the most current version of the test. If there is a newer version than the version discussed in the textbook, other readings, or listed below, discuss the newest version available. Research up-to-date information about the tests you select to discuss by visiting the test publishers’ websites and identifying at least one additional peer-reviewed journal article published within the last fifteen years. Review the resource from the University of Arizona Global Campus Library, Scholarly, Peer-Reviewed, and Other Credible Sources, for guidance on identifying a peer reviewed journal article.
The reference list and any instructions copied into the discussion forum do not contribute to the minimum word count. Be sure to document your sources by including APA-formatted citations and references. Review the UAGC Writing Center’s resources, APA: Formatting Your References List and APA: Citing Within Your Paper for guidance.
